The MEADE Repository, an acronym for Multidisciplinary Examples of Assessment, Design, and Evaluation, is an online resource designed to support Kingsborough faculty in aligning their teaching with the CUNY Pathways Core. It offers a curated collection of downloadable sample assessments, each mapped to specific student learning outcomes within the Required and Flexible Core areas, that include assessment rationales, student instructions, a grading rubric and a sample student assignment submission. By showcasing diverse, discipline-specific examples, the MEADE Repository promotes effective, equitable assessment practices and provides practical models for faculty developing or revising assignments to meet general education goals.
The CUNY Pathways Core is a general education framework established across all undergraduate colleges within the system. It ensures that students receive a broad foundational education and can transfer more easily between CUNY colleges without losing general education credits. The CUNY Pathways Core is divided into two main components: a required core and a flexible core.

The required core is designed to provide foundational skills in communication, numeracy and science. The Pathways Outcomes for the required cores establish core competencies or Student Learning Outcomes further divided into three main areas, each containing five outcomes.

Students are required to take six (6) credits in this area, focusing on writing, reading and analytical skills. Visit the English Composition page, to learn more about Pathways Outcomes and to browse downloadable sample assessments by outcome, along with student instructions and rubrics.

Students are required to take three (3) credits in this area, focusing on college-level mathematics and logical reasoning. Visit the Math and Quantitative Reasoning page, to learn more about Pathways Outcomes and to browse downloadable sample assessments by outcome, along with student instructions and rubrics.

Students are required to take three (3) credits in this area, introducing scientific inquiry and the natural world. Visit the Life and Physical Sciences page, to learn more about Pathways Outcomes and to browse downloadable sample assessments by outcome, along with student instructions and rubrics.

In the Flexible Core, depending on the major, students take between three (3) and six (6) three-credit liberal arts and sciences courses from the following five (5) areas, with no more than two (2) courses in any discipline or interdisciplinary field (e.g., no more than two psychology courses):
- Scientific World
- World Cultures and Global Issues
- U.S. Experience in its Diversity
- Creative Expression
- Individual and Society
We will focus on three general outcomes and their associated sample assessments for this area. Visit the Flexible Core page, to learn more about Pathways Outcomes and to browse downloadable sample assessments by outcome that include an overview for instructions, student directions, a grading rubric and sample student work.
